BOTSWANA AND ZIMBABWE SIGN MOU ON EXTRADITION OF CONVICTED CRIMINALS TO HOME COUNTRIES

The governments of Botswana and Zimbabwe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see citizens convicted in either country opting to serve their sentences in their home country.

The Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Kagiso Mmusi says the two countries are seeking to develop bilateral co-operation in the criminal justice delivery system and that through this co-operation, convicted foreigners may opt to serve their sentences within their country of origin.

The minister further said this would also reduce significantly the costs of disposing these cases at courts of law.
