Social media influencers are now a thing in Botswana. The industry has hopped on the influencer wave that is taking the world by storm, and creatives are now making a career out of it. So many influencers in our countries are growing and we can’t get enough of them on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. It is a new year and we all have dreams and goals we are working hard to achieve and these established figures in the industry are there to point us in the right direction.
Here is a list of some of the influencers to look out for this year from entrepreneurship, fashion, events and the arts.

Thobo Kerekang
Thobo Kerekang is a lawyer by training and a legal advisor. It might all seem very serious but this versatile young man also runs the well-known popular fashion label KeNo Suits with his partner. KeNo suits has been running for about four years now and only growing stronger as they will be opening another branch in Francistown in February so as to expand their market. And that’s not it, the young entrepreneur also loves staying fit and healthy. Thobo is working hand-in-hand with USN Botswana as the Brand Ambassador. He believes that health is our most valuable asset and for us to do better we have to live healthier.

Natasha Tlagae
Natasha Tlagae is one beautiful young lady and with 3 years of experience, she has been running her own fashion label, ‘House of Noir’. This exquisite fashion label is an award winning upcoming brand inspired by the signature style of the young lady herself which is influenced by Middle Eastern culture. Natasha Tlagae has been in an apprenticeship with established retail stores such as the Mr Price Group to learn business. She also has experience as the Miss Botswana beauty pageant organizer, and makes quality clothing at all times. She has inspired a lot this past year, as she won the best designer title at the Fashion Without Borders Fashion Show last year in 2017. We cannot wait to see what House of Noir has for us in 2018!

Kefus Leo
All I can say about this lady is that she’s a ray of sunshine with her infectious spirit and laughter. Kefus Leo is an event MC/ host at one of the most popular clubs in the city Chez Nicolas lounge, Online present for WHAT’S THE FUZZ, dancer, an aspiring radio presenter and she is also a part time owner of a youth company called Loud Crew Entertainment…talk about multi-talents! Kefus shared with Ngwana Wa Style that she is inspired by her passion for what she does, which includes living in the moment.  What do we expect from the bold lady this year? “I want to grow my brand in ways no one thought possible. I want Kefus Leo to be a house-hold name and also grow my company with business partners,” states Kefus. Clearly there’s a lot to expect from her in 2018 and I know I’m excited to see her nourish and become what she aspires to be. Miss Kefus Leo advises aspiring presenters and MCs to go out there and grab as many opportunities as they can and make certain that they love and enjoy what they do. I quote, “LIVE, LOVE AND LEARN!”

Kalima Mipata
Kalima Mipata is an exceptional dancer and Co-artistic director from Mophato Dance Theatre, well known for his versatility in contemporary dance, Afro fusion, traditional dance, hip hop and kwaito dance. Kalima did his training in South Africa at Vuyani Dance Company for seven months and had the opportunity to perform at Metro FM Awards in 2014 in Durban. Last year he created a beautiful dance piece and performed it at Ted X. He has also travelled with the group internationally to places such as Germany, Norway and New York amongst other places to perform and put Botswana on the map. Kalima Mipata amongst other gifted dancers have pushed the dance industry in Botswana and I’m proud to say the art of dance is finally getting recognized and appreciated in our country because of inspiring people like him. Kalima states that he’s inspired by people who are passionate about what they do as well as the companies he has worked with. “It is not too late to try out something that you love, be it in music or fashion or acting. If it is something that burns within you then do it, do it while you can.”
